Choosing the right photography session can feel overwhelming, especially when considering what suits your family best. Many families 'just want a mini session' because the price tag is more appealing.
Here are a few things to consider when deciding what type of session you should book......
Understanding Mini Sessions
Mini sessions are designed for families who want quality images in a short amount of time.
Offered on specific dates and locations, they can be a great way to update your family photos without having to put much time into planning your session. If you are wanting family photos in multiple locations, or somewhere that holds special meaning to your family, a full session might be a better fit.
They are designed to be short and sweet at only 20 minutes long. If you have young children, a 20-minute session might be ideal, as staying still for an extended period can be tough for little ones. If your family needs more time to feel comfortable in new locations or with new people, or if you are after a more relaxed afternoon, a full session might fit your needs a bit better.

Considerations Before Booking
While mini sessions are appealing, there are some factors to keep in mind:
Time Constraints: The limited timeframe can make it challenging to capture the perfect shot, especially if you have young ones who may need time to warm up to the camera. You might find that some of your favorite moments happen after the clock runs out.
Limited Poses and Backgrounds: Because the sessions are short, you may have fewer opportunities for variety in poses and settings.

Making the Decision
To determine whether a mini session fits your family, ask yourself these questions:
What are the ages and personalities of your children? If they tend to be energetic or need time to adjust, a longer session might be a better fit.
How do you feel about a shorter time frame? If you or your children thrive under time pressure, a mini session could work well.
Ultimately, consider your family’s specific dynamics and how the shorter session aligns with your needs.
